The story line
After stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an alternate version of Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space. Monitors the line. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence for being a “time variant”, or help heal the timeline and prevent a major threat. Loki gets caught up in his own crime thriller, travels through time and changes human history.

It is, to put it mildly, tiring. Waldron and director Kate Heron have gone to great lengths to try to turn the show into entertainment, but there’s only so much you can do once you decide to answer every question about time travel. . TVA headquarters’ humdrum, buttoned-up, and brown-toned aesthetic, filled with old office files, tin soda cans, and 80s-era equipment that’s been given a semi-modern Spitze shine, is a welcome place to do homework. Ambiance is there, although the office (and the rest of the “loki”) could use a few more lights. Owen Wilson is a master of disarming charm, shrugging and slapping his way through constant shop talk, and at least one musical selection is so danceable it’s like dropping a disco ball in the middle of study hall. is
