Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023 film):

User review:

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 The final installment directed by James Gunn before becoming head of DC, it was expected to be his most dedicated work to date. However, the result was a disappointment, as if Gunn had only come to close the chapter and move Marvel. The entire story line was full of repetition and played safe, as in his previous work “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania”.

I won’t talk too much about Rocket because most of his scenes fall into spoiler territory but I enjoyed that we learn a lot about him as the story progresses. Rocket has always been an enigmatic character, never revealing any helpful information about his past, so seeing so much focus on him was a great creative decision. Bradley Cooper certainly shines as the voice of Rocket, injecting plenty of emotion into his performance, which is technically a talking raccoon that’s easier said than done. As for Groot, there’s not much to say other than he’s still the Groot we know and love. I mean, you have to admire Vin Diesel’s uncanny ability to say “I’m Groot” with such convincing inflections.

However, I think Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock was a mixed bag at best. Although I liked how earnestly Poulter played the character, there weren’t really enough parts in the film that allowed him to stand out too much. Personally, I blame it on the aforementioned poor choice of having three conflicting stories happening at once but it’s also possible that this was done as a way to set things up for future MCU events. . Regardless, I think Poulter’s Warlock was pretty decent, even if he didn’t leave as much of an impression as I’d hoped.

When considering the varying quality of post-Endgame MCU content, I’d say that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is one of the most interesting entries in this long-running cinematic universe. Superheroes won’t blow your mind with action, nor will it make you laugh often with its comic relief, but hopefully it will make you care enough about its characters to grow over time. Appreciate the evolution With that in mind, this movie makes me cautiously optimistic that the MCU may still have a good future, even if it has seen better days.
