Fantastic (TV Series 2016): As a hard-working scriptwriter, So Hye is writing a drama about cancer when she is accidentally diagnosed with breast cancer and learns that she has five months to live. She decides to live it up, leaves no regrets, and does whatever she wants to do. However, as a workaholic, she also commits to completing her final project, then plans to leave quietly. But Hae Sung, a famous star, and his first love, suddenly appears and his plans fall apart. So Hye is actively against casting Hae Sung as the main character in her latest drama. His stiff, robotic acting and constant nastiness annoy her, and they occasionally have petty fights. But along the way, they actually begin to fall in love. Meanwhile, Joon Ki, as her doctor and a friend, has been by her side. He knows that Soo-hye’s bright demeanor sometimes serves to hide her hidden burdens. ‘Fantastic (Season 1) 2016’: TV Review:
Fantastic is one of those melodrama that lacks intensity. The romance was good and the drama started strong, but halfway through it got boring. The only interesting thing about it was the side story which added some fun to the whole plot and kept me watching. At least, the performances were superb, although the leading man was sometimes over the top, but that was the fault of the script. The mix of comedy and drama was fine, after all, and the ending was pretty good.

Fantastic is a beautiful slice of life drama that covers several genres: romance, comedy, melo, bromance and female friendship. Like many I was worried about the cancer storyline but this is not Scent of a Woman (solid drama by the way). I feel some viewers see it as a watered down version but it is a completely different style of drama with a completely different style even though the message is probably the same. I just finished this series. I enjoyed the story, especially how he came up with tips on how to deal with a deadly disease and the people who dealt with the death of their loved ones. I would cry in one scene and laugh after a while. The acting was good and I would recommend it to many who like heartwarming stories about love, friends and dealing with death.
