‘Fake Profile (Season 1) 2023’: TV Review:

Before writing a review, I usually watch a production completely out of obligation. I can hardly stand an episode of it. To see if there was a clear tone shift, I skipped some scenes from later episodes.

It is, as others have pointed out, essentially a soap opera. However, even at that, it’s a subpar soap opera.

To begin with, the unnecessary amount of fairly loud music breaks was the factor that bothered me the most. To me it is nobody. Film music should not detract from the focal point of the scene. If one has any desire to concentrate on pop tunes, there are better ways to do so. Additionally, many viewers are unlikely to be drawn to the musical style. With oldies sounds like “Donald Duck” and a vocoder track, among other things it sounds nostalgic and cheesy to me. I get the impression that I’m watching something from the disco era of the 1970s and not a contemporary production because of it.

After that, a happy, fake romance. Despite their physical attractiveness, both the leads are given too many weak dialogues and appear uncomfortable and selfish in their roles. I was as fascinated by the sex scenes as I was by positioning the Barbie and Kane dolls. The average viewer looking for sex will go elsewhere anyway. I’m more interested in character development and interesting relationships on Netflix.

I had to give up on any upcoming plot twists in later episodes. The content was insufficient to hold my attention.
